When I was young, my mum was in the hospital a lot. Because I missed her, I’d often go into her room and smell her perfumes and look at her make-up. She had a whole line of Vanilla Fields creams and perfumes, and smelling the vanilla scent reminded me of her, even when I couldn’t see her.
What’s funny is that my mom says she now hates vanilla, after years of working in a shoppe where she was constantly surrounded by scented vanilla candles, but I simply adore the smell. It reminds me of my mom.

My favourite vanilla memory is coming across (and buying, of course) my favourite perfume. Lush’s ‘Vanillary’. It smells like vanilla cake, which is the best thing ever, and wearing it I get to smell like vanilla cake too.
I love Vanilla EVERYTHING!! love the candles, love the scent, love the taste, love the color, love the look; remember eating french vanilla icecream over the best apple pie in the country in Willioamsburg Virginia when I was about 9 – best I ever had!!

Vanilla reminds me of eating ice cream with my Grandpa when I was little… we both LOVED plain old fashioned vanilla ice cream and it was our special night time snack when I stayed with my grandparents

My favorite memory with vanilla is putting delicious raw vanilla bean into ice cream. The flavor was wonderful. I also like the scent of vanilla for aromatherapy. It is very relaxing.

I don’t have a clear favorite memory, but it’s just that the scent itself conjures up happiness and warmth. It makes you feel comforted and nostalgic.

I burn vanilla candles every night as a way to relax my mind after a long day. It doesn’t matter how bad or good the day has been, i cant wait to get home, walk through the door and light those vanilla candles. I know i am home and at peace.

Home made ice cream when I was growing up sitting for hours it seemed turning the crank on the ice cream churn.
Vanilla is childhood memories. Homemade iceceam, custards, baked rice puddings, blancmange, sponge cakes ….
an essential ingredient in Mum’s cooking. She said she liked the scent because it reminded her of her Granny, who reared her.
One Christmas we gave her vanilla perfumed soap and talcum powder. I still love the aroma and taste of vanilla.

I remember one of the first perfumes I wore was a vanilla scent in junior high … made me feel so grown up.
My favorite memories of Vanilla are many. The first and one always bringing me back is Sunday morning French Toast. My dad was Sunday morning breakfast chef and would let us help. Another is Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and once in a while a Fresh Vanilla Bean Shake was a treat. This time a year when the Cookie baking starts!
When growing up,in the 50′s, we were poor and I used to use vanilla as a perfume behind my ears. I loved the smell and it made me feel grown up. To this day, it’s my favorite scent.

Vanilla reminds me of baking my first Angel Food cake with my grandpa. He taught me how to make them from scratch, by hand. Now I use a mixer and use vanilla and almond extracts, but opening a bottle of double strength vanilla still takes me back to learning to bake from him.
Vanilla always makes me think of baking with my Grandma. And every time I sniff the bottle before measuring (she taught me to do that “to make sure it’s good”. I think she just liked the smell) I think of a different time we baked together. To me vanilla is a time capsule in a bottle.
