Using Aromatherapy In Your Crafts

January 4, 2018 by Shellie Wilson

Do you struggle with fatigue, stress, depression or have trouble sleeping? If you do, you know what a pain in the butt these conditions are. Little by little, they rub the bloom off of life, moving towards apathetic and exhausted. For those of us with light cases of these conditions, aromatherapy can help to provide some relief to their constant nagging. Aromatherapy is the use of the oil of plants, roots, and trees to provide solutions for common physical or psychological problems by using the scents from these oils. There are several ways to incorporate the practice into your everyday life. There are literally thousands of regular home items to work these scents into to begin using aromatherapy. If you’re thinking of trying aromatherapy, here are some great scents and the conditions they relieve.

Lavender to relieve depression

Depression is similar to living life with a storm cloud over your head. As cliche as that sounds, it really is the truth. Lavender is no substitute for good medical care, but the scent has been known to soothe some of the symptoms of depression. Mix some lavender and vanilla into your wax in order to produce a calm whenever you light the wick of your next creation.

Grapefruit to energize you

If you’re feeling fatigued, you find that it complicates your day. After all, we have so much to do in the course of a day. There are luncheons to attend, phone calls to make, bills to pay and people to nurture. It isn’t easy to shake it off, but finding an amazing grapefruit essential oil can help to add some pep back into your step. Add some grapefruit to a perfume to spritz on in the morning, and keep your energy high.

Bergamot for anxiety

Those who suffer from anxiety can tell you this for sure: anxiety robs you of your sense of well-being, leaving behind fear and tension. Before you know it, your life becomes centered around what reduces worry in your life. Don’t become a prisoner to your fears. Whenever you light up your bergamot candle, you will begin to feel soothed and quieted. If you’re reading to buy into bergamot, mix some of the oil into a bath bomb to use right before bed.

Headache be gone

A nasty headache can make you feel like a rock band is stuck in your head, rocking and rolling when you want less of the problem. To begin banishing the band, mix some potpourri scented with mint oil together and stuff the potpourri into a beautiful sachet. In this way, you’ll have a keepsake and a pain reliever. Before you know it, your head will begin to feel better.

It is time for you to take your scents to the next level. Pretty scents are wonderful, but it is incredible to add some healing properties to the mix as well. Aromatherapy is an excellent way to experiment with alternative healing and gives you a new area to stretch your creativity to a new level.
