Toilet Paper Tube Pillar Candle

September 8, by SandraW.

Making candles is a wonderful and creative way to use up leftover supplies and materials, and it’s always a great feeling when you come up with new ways to do it. Recently, I discovered a simple and easy way to make a pillar candle using a toilet paper roll tube as a mold. Not only is it a great way to recycle and repurpose these tubes, but it also produces a perfectly formed and unique candle.

To make a toilet paper roll pillar candle, you will need a few supplies: tin foil, tape, wax, a pre-tabbed wick, a toilet paper tube, and newspaper or wax paper to catch any spills. You can use any type of wax you have on hand, such as leftover palm or soy wax, and choose a wick size appropriate for the size of your candle.

First, wrap the tin foil around the bottom of the toilet paper tube, making sure to cover it securely on all sides with tape. This will prevent the hot wax from escaping out the bottom of the mold. Alternatively, you could use a putty such as plasticine to secure the bottom.

Next, insert a pre-tabbed wick through the center of the tube and secure it in place using a small stick or dowel. You may need to straighten out the wick if it becomes crooked during the pouring process.

Heat your wax to the desired temperature and pour it carefully into the mold. It’s important to fill the mold to the desired level, leaving enough space at the top for the wick. You can use a thermometer to ensure the wax is at the correct temperature for pouring and setting.

Once you’ve poured the wax, allow it to cool and set completely before removing the mold. This could take several hours or overnight, depending on the type of wax you used and the size of your candle. You can speed up the process by placing the mold in the refrigerator, but be careful not to cause any cracks or damage to the candle.

Once the candle has set, carefully remove the mold by peeling away the tin foil and toilet paper tube. You should be left with a perfectly formed pillar candle with a pre-tabbed wick ready for lighting. You can also decorate the candle with your favorite embellishments, such as ribbon, beads, or glitter.

This method is not only easy and fun, but it’s also an affordable way to make unique and personalized candles for yourself or as gifts for friends and family. You can experiment with different types of wax, colors, and scents to create your own custom candles. And since you’re using a recycled material as a mold, it’s an environmentally-friendly way to create something beautiful and functional.

In conclusion, making a toilet paper roll pillar candle is a simple and creative way to use up leftover supplies and materials. With just a few supplies and some patience, you can create a unique and functional candle that will add a special touch to your home or make a thoughtful gift for someone special. So start collecting those toilet paper tubes and get creative!
