Stained Glass Christmas Tree Tutorial

It has been a while since I made a Christmas stained glass project, and when I say while I actually mean years! Now that I come to think of it, i probably haven’t done anything seasonal for some time. This year, however, I was gifted a large box of green glass, yep, not any other color just green, so guess who has been looking up green designs? A Christmas tree kept coming up over and over again. So I am thinking some stained glass Christmas trees are being gifted this year! I thought about making some flat simple trees for the local nursing home too, they could be hung in the window as suncatchers. I am not sure if glass would be allowed though, so will do some checking before I do some making.

Now that November is upon us it’s time to kick it into high gear and get started on making Holiday and Christmas cards if you haven’t already. My style for Holiday cards is usually cute, I love adorable animals, charming snowmen and jolly Santa’s. So I thought today we’d take a look at some handmade card inspirations using stamps, stencils and dies to create some cute handmade cards for Christmas.

Lin used dies from Spellbinders for this darling card of a Polar Bear and his Penguin pal. There’s lots of texture from the dry embossed background, lots of color from all the colored cardstock and room for a stamped and die cut sentiment too. Take a closer look at the Sending Hugs blog.

This trio of cards from Amy feature three little ones all bundled up for the chilly holiday weather. For each scene she used a masking technique with digital and traditional stamps, coloring them and creating backgrounds with Copic Markers. Visit the Thousand Sheets of Paper blog for more details.

I love the bold, bright pink and red on this sweet card from Channin! She used stencils to design the plaid background, a die for the stocking and stamps for the peeking puppy and sentiment using new products from Hero Arts. I spotted this card on the Hero Arts Instagram page.

This adorable moose is standing on a city sidewalk, dressed in holiday style, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Or should that be Merry Christmoose? 🙂 Tamara used Copic Markers to color her Holiday City scene. I came across her idea at the Sweet November Stamps site.

If you’re needing to make cards quickly try using 3D pre-printed punch out decoupage images like Heather did on this super sweet snowmen card. I love the layers, it adds great dimension. Savannah created some yummy clean and simple Gingerbread Men cards with stamping, washi tape and glitter. Her post has some helpful tips on coloring stamped images and not being so critical of yourself when you think you’ve messed up (something I’m sure most of us can learn from). For the background of this cute Gnome card Silvia stamped and splattered a pattern on red cardstock then die cut a diamond shaped window opening from white cardstock for over top also adding a stamped sentiment. I adore the non-traditional color combo of teal and pink on this snowman card from Lieschen! They used glitter paste to make DIY glitter cardstock, cut it into strips and made a custom card background with it. There’s a cute stamped snowman in the middle that’s water colored with ink pads.
