Should you use Nutella or these healthier recipes?

January 19, 2015 by Vikram Goyal

boycott-nutella

Nutella is one of the favorite spreads for our kids for their afternoon snacks. Yet, the more I read about it, the more I get confused. Is it healthy? Is it natural? The Jar says no artificial colors or preservatives, yet so many people say that that is not true.

So what is the truth?

A little bit of searching revealed the true ingredients and the reason behind the angst.

Click here to find out why this writer thinks, based on these ingredients (mainly sugar and oil), Nutella should be banned.

I say it’s same ingredients as Safeway Frosting! So not good! Frosting is not good for kids on bread so why this? There are real spreads you can buy, they cost much more! Kids are worth the extra. Or as a treat rarely ok.

P.S. Does it make a difference in the way the recipe comes out?

I have to agree with you. I see Nutella being used as crepe/waffle spread everywhere here. I’d rather have plain old icing sugar mix with some cinnamon to go with crepe or waffles. The simpler the ingredient the better it is in my book.
