So many of the projects in Seaside Tinkered Treasures would be perfect for wedding decor, favors, or special treats for your wedding party or guests! I’m excited to share some of my favorite ideas from the book along with some fun interview questions that Elyse graciously answered. Let’s get started!
{Fanciful Flip Flops – A Perfect Gift for Bridesmaids}
Hello Elyse! I am so delighted to have a chance to ask you some questions and to review your new book Seaside Tinkered Treasures. When I look at your blog or read your books the word that always pops into my head is charming! Congratulations on your second book, and best wishes for its success.
Thank you so much Kimberly! I am smiling from ear to ear
I’m so inspired by your writing and your projects. Who or what are your favorite sources of inspiration?
I’m so happy to hear this! Thank you Kimberly! Whenever I’m seeking inspiration, it always helps me to wander through a pretty shop or pick up a favorite magazine.
{Le Petit Mariage Bride & Groom}
Have you considered writing a Tinkered Treasures book about weddings? Your floral, feminine style is perfectly suited for the topic!
People have mentioned that idea to me and it’s something to consider! Oddly enough when I was creating projects for my original book proposal, I gave myself little “tinkering challlenges” and one of them was to create an entire wedding party from clothespins/pegs.
{Message in a Bottle – Sweet Trinkets for Wedding Favors}
Do you have any advice for brides who want to make their own handmade favors and decorations? For example, do you have some tips for crafting multiples of the same project?
For crafting multiples, I would advise keeping projects simple so that the making stays enjoyable and doesn’t become a daunting task. Projects using paper from both books (Tinkered Treasures and Seaside Tinkered Treasures) lend themselves well as you mention to being favors. Just think at how customizable favors like pinwheels, matchboxes or tussy mussies could be when created using color-copies of wedding invites paired with color-copies of favorite fabrics and even swatches from bridal party attire!
{Tin Can Luminaries – A Lovely Way to Light Up the Ceremony/Reception}
What are your favorite places to work on your projects or writing your articles and books? Do you have a studio or dedicated workspace in your home?
I do have a dedicated workspace and in my house full of guys and we refer to it as the Girlie Office. I am trying to work in there more often but currently when I’m tinkering, I end up spread out all over the dining room table with music playing, and when I’m writing I seclude myself upstairs in my bedroom for the quiet I need to think things through.
How do you organize and store your craft supplies and what are your top 5 favorites?
I am constantly looking for smarter ways to store my supplies. Somehow, I seem to know where everything is but I’m not a very good example of how to keep a tidy studio and I’m quite the messy crafter. I keep supplies in a variety of containers from photo boxes to jars to produce containers on shelves. My top 5 favorite supplies excluding scissors, glue stick and school glue are: vintage millinery forget-me-nots (they make anything pretty), vintage seam binding, little gems/cabochons, paper roses, and glitter.
{Bubbly Soda Bottles- Doily-Embellished Drinks for a Beverage Station}
Are there any art or craft techniques that you’ve never explored but would like to try?
Yes, there are lots of them! I would like to give mosaic a try soon. My oldest sister just learned how and wants to show me how. I get nervous about mixing and disposing of the grout but I have a photo box full of broken China in waiting!
Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your blog book tour, and for taking the time to answer my questions. I look forward to seeing what you do next!
My pleasure! Thank you for your support and for a thoughtful list of questions! xo elyse
