Review: Harmony Opaque Pigment Ink Pads by Spectrum Noir

August 29, 2019 by Heather Holbrook

Review: Harmony Opaque Pigment Ink Pads by Spectrum Noir

I recently got a chance to try some of the brand new Harmony Opaque Pigment Ink Pads from Spectrum Noir. These ink pads come in 36 beautiful colors, in the same shades as their other Harmony Ink Pads (Quick-Dry Dye and Water-Reactive Dye). Since these pads are pigment based they are slow drying which means they are perfect for techniques like Ink Blending and Heat Embossing, as well as regular stamping. The colors are really rich and are also acid and fade free.

I created a few card with these new inks starting with a Unicorn Shaker Card. I ink blended my background with the Pale Fig, Pink Tulip and Fuchsia pads. I found they blended really nicely and I was able to get smooth build-able coverage. I also heat embossed my images with the Black ink and words in Fuchsia, both with clear embossing powder to get a lovely shine. I filmed a card tutorial with a closer look at the pads so you can see them in action. Watch the video above or click here to watch on Youtube.

Next I made a spooky Halloween card with several different techniques. Using the White ink pad, a blending brush and a cloud stencil I created my background. These inks work really well with stencils! I used the Lemon Tonic, Honey Pot and Black inks with a layering pumpkin stamp. I heat embossed my text in Pale Fig and other images in Black ink. I used the Lemon Tonic to ink up the moon and Black to add some shading to my die cut creepy tree.

For my last card I again used a stencil for my background, inking it with Lemon Tonic and Honey Pot inks. I heat embossed all my images in Black with clear powder and colored them with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. My text was embossed with the Honey Pot ink, I love how the colors really pop on white paper when embossed!

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at the brand new Spectrum Noir Harmony Opaque Pigment Ink Pads.
