What better way to mark the 50th anniversary of Anthony Burgess’ literary cult masterpiece than to see it performed live by UK’s highly dynamic Action To The Word theatre company.
The award winning all-male cast, led by Martin McCreadie (as Alex DeLarge), takes its audience into a dark world, exploring themes of sexuality, youth and aggression with a fresh and confident command of light, sound, music and dance.
Martin McCreadie’s performance was outstanding with his intense and honest delivery of Burgess’ quirky dialogue. The minimal use of colour was effective, and reinforced that no sequins were required to retain the audience’s attention. A mix of delicate and intense choreography added to the storytelling, complemented by a lively soundtrack of Gossip, David Bowie, The Scissor Sisters (a personal favourite), Placebo and Beethoven.
Not recommended for children under 16 years of age.
