Retro: Six fleur applique designs

May 26, 2009 by Scarlett Burroughs

Aren’t these the cutest applique patterns ever? Designer Kelly Fletcher of materialistic blog made them into six pillows/cushions. According to Kelly,

They’re all the same size, so would also work well as an appliqué quilt – using one, two or all six of the designs. We’ve used a traditional appliqué technique, but you could easily revert to machine appliqué.

Congratulations to Kelly for having her appliqued pillows featured in the May issue of British Patchwork & Quilting. It shows the pattern and directions to make the Fleur Audrey pillow only, see below.

Go here to get the May issue of the British Patchwork & Quilting magazine.

Go here to find out how to purchase the five Fleur appliqué quilting patterns that weren’t featured in the magazine. One of the patterns is called Fleur Mabel. Mabel was my late Mamaw’s name and she was indeed a beautiful flower while on this earth.

Viral Crochet Prodigy Story Takes Dark Turn — But We’re Staying Focused on the Craft

Yes, we know — it might seem odd to say “we’re not commenting” while… saying something at all. But here’s the thing: when a name so closely tied to the crochet world makes headlines for something this serious, not acknowledging it could feel like we’re sweeping it under the rug. And that’s not who we are. We have numerous posts and patterns that link to Jonah’s hands; these were all published PRIOR to any allegations.  At this stage, we have not decided whether to remove the content.

We’re not here to speculate, fuel drama, or chase clicks on someone else’s pain. We’re here to clarify where we stand about Jonah’s Hands.
– This is a police matter.
– Jonah Larson is still a minor.
– We will not comment on the case.

We’ve always believed that crafting is a safe, supportive space. That doesn’t mean ignoring real-world events — but it does mean handling them with care and responsibility.

Let’s continue to support one another and keep this space kind, creative, and community-focused.
