Product Review: The Ultimate Disney Party Book

June 10, 2015 by Dana Hinders

disney

The Ultimate Disney Party Book by Jessica Ward with Cynthia Littlefield makes it easy for parents to throw the perfect Disney party.  If your little ones are Disney fanatics, this book is  must-have for your party planing process.

Covered themes include:

  • Aladdin – Beginning with Flying Carpet Invitations, the Aladdin party fun continues with Jasmine’s Jeweled Headbands and Aladdin Fezzes, along with a game of Musical Magic Carpets. Following such treats as Blue Genie Punch, Animals of Agrabah Pita Chips and Hummus, and Abu’s Caramel Apples, children will go home with a Diamond in the Rough Rock Candy party favor.
  • Disney Princesses – After receiving their Cinderella’s Slipper Invitations, party guests will create Tiana’s Princess Party Tiaras as well as Fairy Godmother Wands. The menu for the royal buffet includes Belle’s French Baguette Sandwiches, Ariel’s Follow-Your-Heart Fruit Skewers, and Princess Aurora’s Tiara Cake.
  • Toy Story – Mail out your Woody’s Cowboy Vest invites and then decorate for the party with a Three-Eyed Aliens Garland.  This party features a game of Pass the Pig, and snacks including Cheesy Wheezys and Woody’s Sheriff Badge Sandwiches. Guests will also enjoy the intergalactic Buzz Lightyear cake and their Woody’s Cowboy Boot Favors.
  • Mickey and Minnie – Everyone knows these famous mice with their white gloves and yellow shoes – not to mention their mouse ears!  This party includes Mickey Mouse Glove Invitations, a Hidden Mickey Scavenger Hunt, Mickey and Minnie Mouse Ears, Minnie’s Pizza Polka Dots, and Mickey Mouse Candy Cup party favors.
  • Monster’s Inc. – Starting with Scare Floor Door Invitations, the monstrous fun continues with Mike Wazowski Spoon Puppets, which later become favors.  Scream-worthy treats include Randall Boggs Blueberry Smoothies, Terry and Terri Terrifying Flatbread Sandwiches, and Mike Wazowski Cupcakes.
  • Wreck-It-Ralph – Guests will receive Fix-It Felix, Jr. arcade game invitations, and will enjoy such activities as the I’m Gonna Wreck It! Penthouse Piñata and Pin the Hammer on Fix-It Felix, Jr.  Then they will gobble up Pile-of-Bricks Finger Sandwiches and Hero’s Duty Medal Pizza, capped off with Vanellope’s Race Car Brownies.
  • Planes – Dottie’s Forklift Invitations will summon the party guests, who will then assemble Dusty Whirligigs and Planes Racers.  Themed snacks include Dusty Nonstop Smoothies, Skipper Riley’s Checkered Tail Fin Sandwich Tray, and Dusty Crophopper Cupcakes.
  • Captain Hook – After receiving their Hook Invitations, the kids will love the Trivia Treasure Hunt, Tricorn Hat Bean and Cheese Pockets, Skull Rock Watermelon Fruit Salad, and the Jolly Roger Pirate Ship Cake.  Everyone will leave with a Pirate Flag Pennant party favor.

Although all of the ideas presented in this book are simply adorable, the food suggestions were my personal favorite. In the Monster’s Inc. party, I loved the Randall Boggs Blueberry Smoothies, Terry and Terri Terrifying Flatbread Sandwiches, and Mike Wazowski Cupcakes. These recipes would be perfect for any monster-obsessed child’s birthday celebration and you don’t need to be an expert chef to pull them off.

I must admit I was surprised by some of the movies they choose to feature, however. With Frozen being the hit that it is, I was shocked that Elsa and Anna were nowhere to be found. Cars is another hugely popular movie I thought would have been included. However, I do realize that the authors needed to make some tough decisions in order to avoid creating a 1,000 page party guide. Perhaps a volume 2 may be in the works?
