Announcing, Beedle The Bard Paper Piecing Design Challenge! This is for Harry Potter fans who love to quilt. Contest starts May 20 and is being hosted by HP Paper Piecing (HP = Harry Potter).

Challenge description:

Design one new Harry Potter-themed paper pieced pattern using the stories from Beedle The Bard as your inspiration! The pattern needs to fit on one piece of 8 1/2? x 11? paper for easy printing. I find that 7? x 10? works well for a 5? pattern, which makes it easier for our International quilters to print. Anything beyond that tends to get cropped when printed.

You have until June 23rd, so get out your paper and start drawing. Go here for more information.

How to Make a Banner Tea Card

How to Make a Banner Tea Card

This amazing card from Lynn is a tea-rrific way to use up pattern paper scraps. She used banner dies that might normally be hung in a row and designed her own starburst pattern with them. She used two different sizes of banner dies, each with faux stitching, and cut out different coordinating floral and polka dot papers, placing them in a circle on the background with the points facing out. In the center are two die cut circles and a stamped tea cup, plate and spoon. For these she used a fun paper piecing technique, stamping them on pattern paper and cutting them out along the stamped edges, piecing them back together. There’s also a puny stamped sentiment, some silver domed accents and a 3D flower. This card is sure to put a big smile on any tea lovers face!
