12+ Beautiful Butterfly Card Ideas

12+ Beautiful Butterfly Card Ideas

Brenda’s stunning card features a layered purple butterfly that looks ready to fly off the card. It’s sitting among lavender and carnation flowers that she die cut, adding details with Copic markers and a white gel pen. There’s layers of vellum over the pattern paper background and in the butterfly as well. Find all the details at the Honey Bee blog.

With all the lovely flowers blooming this time of year I’m seeing so many bees, dragonflies and butterflies and I love incorporating them into my hand made card designs! (Last week I shared Bee Card ideas, click here if you missed it). Insects are perfect to include in any type of floral or outdoors card designs or make them the focal point of your design with colorful wings and lots of movement they add so much beauty. So today let’s take a look at some flying, fluttering, fabulous Butterfly Card Ideas.

Lori’s butterfly cards have bold color and loads of gold shine for stand out designs. She used gold foiling along with bright colors of ink pads to stencil on all the color, picking out the teal as a base color for the cards helps tie them together nicely. Take a closer look at the Taylored Expressions blog.

Technically Emma’s card, booklet and envelope have moth stamps but you could also create specimen styled designs like these with butterflies too and they were too wonderful not to share. Using products from Tim Holtz her designs look like they came out of a vintage nature journal with lots of collage elements, distress, layers and texture. Find more info at the That’s Life blog.

Yana’s terrific tropical card has a see through acetate layer with top and bottom cardstock arches on the front for the sentiment, flowers and butterfly. Inside are more tropical flowers, she stamped and colored everything with Copic Markers. Learn more at the Simon Says Stamp blog.

This beautiful rich blue butterfly really pops among all the orange and yellow on this pretty daisy card. Distress inks were used to ink blend the colors on the flowers and notice all the wonderful details on the butterfly with stitching and tiny gems. Chris’s sweet butterfly shaped card was die cut from white and coral cardstocks with some green and coral glitter added to the body and antenna for a nice shimmer. The layered die cut sentiment works perfectly in her color scheme too. I spotted her idea in the Chris Lawlor gallery at The Stamps of Life.

Ashlee used a rainbow of ink pads to create a colorful wash of color along the bottom of her pretty design. Over top she stamped the butterflies and sentiment in black so there’s no coloring in needed for this style of card! She also added some splatters and sequins for texture and shine too. She used products from Catherine Pooler Designs.

Julie used two different masking techniques for her gorgeous card. She used copy paper for a paper mask and clear embossing over the flowers to mask them from the beautiful ombre inking she did to create the background. She used the same colors for the big stamped butterfly as well. Find direction on the Brass and Bliss blog.

Melissa used soft pastel colors of inks to stamp her faux postage die cut card. She added a die cut oval for the sentiment and included two butterflies in richer colors so they really stand out. There’s also thread and gems for some texture. I came across her idea on the Waffle Flower Stamps Instagram page.

Using a kit like Mary did here is a quick and easy way to create several cards in one sitting. The kit she used had pre-printed items like punch out dies and printed backgrounds as well as stamps and stickers that can be combined to create wonderful cards in no time. Learn more at the Stamps N Lingers blog.

I love the berry pink and green color combo that Samantha used on her darling butterfly card. They are fluttering over a stamped strawberry patch with a trendy die cut arch and some die cut flowers and leaves for the background. The little stamped “trails” behind them add nice movement and the splatters give texture. Find more details at the Lawn Fawn blog.

Mindy’s card is so pretty and clean with a white base with a die cut oval that sees through into the ink blended pink and green inside. Over top she added a lovely butterfly and flowers that have subtle colors with some glitter and gems too. I came across her card on the Gina K. Designs Instagram page.

That’s for fluttering by today to check out these wonderful, beautiful butterfly cards!
