More Mosaic Fun – Tips from JMD Designs

I’m embracing mosaic work some much more in my little glass world. I’m preparing for re-doing my bathroom and I plan creating some cool tile work to go with the glass sink I made. So I wander around the web looking for inspiration and information. Isn’t that what it’s for.I found this web site of JMD Designs, based in New Zealand and she’s got a whole page of tips as well as tutorials for mosaic work. Very cool stuff. Now she does state that the products she’s talking about are available in New zealand but I’m sure you can find the equivalent in your neck of the woods.

Janet is mostly a stitching type of person having written books on embroidery and quilting but has added mosaic to her repertoire and doing a fine job of it. Check out her pieces. And check out her tips. Then I think it’s time for your to glue some glass and tiles down and mosaic something.

You can use these challenge cards in lots of different ways. Of course you can just tuck them in the block are and see if kids want to play with them. You can also add them to a unit where you are learning about that country or a particular time period where the landmark makes sense to include. Have kids do a little research on the landmark, build their own version and present their findings.
