It was supposed to be brilliant – a comprehensive guide to summer mittens. In July. In my defense, it was for Southern Hemisphere readers! (Okay fine, I just really wanted to use that cute polka dot fleece.)
That post got fewer views than my cat’s Instagram. But here’s what that failure taught me: sometimes the projects we’re most excited about don’t resonate, and that’s okay. A sweet comment from a reader named Margaret saved my ego: “I may not need mittens now, but I’ll remember this when winter comes.”
Now when a post flops, I don’t panic. I remember Margaret. And I maybe don’t write about seasonal items at the wrong time of year anymore.
