12 Christmas in July Handmade Card Ideas

Wreaths are always popular during the Holidays and this pretty card added it to a card base with stenciled door for a festive design. The greenery and bow are die cut from cardstock with tiny glitter paper die cut houses all around with a heat embossed vellum sentiment. Learn more at the Hero Arts blog.

It’s July and that means it’s time for many of us card makers to begin creating our cards for the Holiday Season! Paper crafting companies are starting to release their Winter, Christmas and Holiday products to give us ample time to start working on that giant pile of cards we make each year for all our friends and family. Design Teams and designers are also sharing their new ideas so let’s dive in and see what’s going to be trendy this year for the Holidays and find some inspiration to get crafting on our own Christmas and Holiday card designs.

This beautiful bow card has bold colors of blue and red for a non-traditional Holiday color combo. The stamped and die cut bows were placed on a navy card base with tiny gold gems scattered around and a heat embossed gold sentiment in the center. Take a closer look at the Altenew blog.

Jeannette’s adorable card has layers of oval die cut pattern paper on layers of cardstock with a cute pre-printed hedgehog in the middle. Up top is a layered die cut sentiment and below is die cut greenery and a poinsettia along with some glittery stars scattered around. If you have loads of cards to create using printed images can help make card making faster. Find more info at the Marianne Designs blog.

Amy’s darling card features a digital stamp mouse holding a candy cane with Mistletoe that she colored with Copic Markers. I love the border across the top with a wavy scallop and strip cut from different pattern papers. There’s also a tag and some small puffy stickers as well. Find more details at A Thousand Sheets of Paper blog.

Highland cows are the popular “it” animals at the moment so I’m not surprised to find them showing up on Christmas cards too. Mary-Ann’s sweet die cut cow card has him dressed up with a scarf and Santa hat and there’s even a shaker element in his tummy! Her stunning background was created with a rainbow and circle dies with snowflake gems falling all around. I spotted her idea on the Queen and Co. Instagram page.

My husband and I have 6 cats so this funny card from Lisa with a cat climbing in the tree really speaks to me! She used dies to create her scene, placing it on a black card base which really helps it pop. There’s also a foiled sentiment on black along the bottom. Find step by step directions at the Spellbinders blog.

Faux postage has also been a huge trend in paper crafting for the last year or so and this stunning card from Brenda shows how perfect it is for the Holidays. Her card looks like stack of postcards and greeting cards tied with twine. She combined stamping, die cutting and stenciling for this design and is sharing direction on the Papertrey Ink blog.

Cathy’s lovely card is graphic with a touch of retro mid century modern with a stenciled background in soft pastel colors. She added a silver heat embossed and die cut sentiment as well as some shiny gems too. Watch her video tutorial on the Simon Says Stamp blog.

Here’s another faux postage style card, this time from Amy R. Hers is very rustic with a die cut and inked woodgrain background and a large faux stamp with a gold heat embossed and stenciled Poinsettia. There’s also a round sentiment tag with heat embossing and it’s tied with twine. Watch her video tutorial at the Prairie Paper and Ink blog.

If you enjoy gifting Gift Cards for the Holidays then why not make your own cute cards to hold them like Janet did here. Her Santa shaped card was made with dies, adding some pink ink to his rosy cheeks and cutting the hat and shirt from Christmas pattern paper. Take a closer look at the Art Impressions blog.

Cynthia’s darling design has a sweet girl all dressed up for the Holidays, notice how she created a plaid design on the bow using markers, so pretty! There’s also a die cut sunburst background with star pattern paper but the cutest part is the “Dear Santa, I really tried” sentiment! 🙂 Learn more at The Greeting Farm blog.

Looks like cute animals, faux postage and a bit of vintage are going to be trendy this Holiday Season.
