Leather Scented Candles

October 4, 2011 by SandraW

A leather scented candle can evoke the rugged and adventurous spirit of a biker or cowboy. It can also remind you of the fresh and distinct smell of a new car. Western Skies, a candle supplier, offers a leather-scented candle called “Western Saddle Leather” that captures the essence of the wild west.

If you’re interested in trying to make your own leather-scented candle, you can find a variety of fragrance oils from candle suppliers. For example, Nature’s Garden Leather Jacket fragrance oil (this link is no longer available)  Leather Store by Candle-licious, and Leather by Saratoga Scents (this website is no longer available)  are all options to consider.

If you want to experiment with different scents and create your unique blend, you can try combining leather oil with other essential oils. Patchouli, sandalwood, and cedar are excellent options to pair with leather oil to create a unique, personalized fragrance.

Patchouli has an earthy, musky scent that blends well with leather, providing a warm and comforting aroma. Sandalwood has a sweet and woody aroma that pairs well with leather, providing a soothing and relaxing scent. Cedar has a fresh, woody scent that pairs well with leather and provides a calming and grounding effect.

When making your own leather-scented candle, it’s essential to follow proper safety guidelines to ensure that the candle is safe to burn. Use quality candle-making supplies, including a heat-safe container, a thermometer, and a double boiler or heat-safe container and saucepan to melt the wax. Always monitor the temperature and keep it below the wax’s melting point to prevent a fire hazard.

A leather-scented candle can provide a unique and captivating aroma that evokes the spirit of the wild west. You can find a variety of fragrance oils from candle suppliers to create your leather-scented candle. For those who like to experiment, consider blending leather oil with other essential oils like patchouli, sandalwood, or cedar to create a personalized fragrance. Always remember to follow safety guidelines when making candles to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

If you’re feeling daring, consider blending the oil with patchouli, sandalwood, or cedar.

Stitch Your Favorite Fruit on a Sweater

The other day I saw a post from Pinterest about trends for summer and it said one of them was “cultivating whimsy.”

Well, I don’t know where Pinterest has been all this time, but we’ve been cultivating whimsy here at Craft Gossip for a long time. I love sharing projects that are a little different, things that make you smile when you see them, and will make you smile when you knit them and wear them or use them.

Such it is with the Tutti Frutti tee knitting pattern from Bea Creative Knits.

This cute little baby tee is worked top down in the round with contiguous shoulder construction to shape the sleeve caps. There are short rows for the neckline and folded hems with picot edging at the hemline, neckline and edges of the sleeves.

All of this would be great on its own, but then there’s the addition of a super cute fruit icon, which is added with duplicate stitch. There are a lot of options, including strawberry, banana, orange, cherries, watermelon, lemon, blueberries, kiwi, peach, dragon fruit, apple and pear, so it’s likely you can add on your favorite fruit.

It is offered in eight sizes, to fit a bust measurement ranging from 28-30 inches (71-76 cm) to 56-58 inches (142-147 cm). The design is meant to be worn with around 6.3 inches/16 cm of negative ease, but you can choose the fit you prefer. There’s also optional bust and waist shaping included in the pattern if you want to make it even curvier.

This is considered an advanced beginner or intermediate project because of all the skills involved, but it’s sure to be a lot of fun even if some of these techniques are new to you.

Grab a copy of the pattern for yourself form Bea Creative Knits on Etsy.
