It’s been an extremely rainy this Spring where I live, we broke some records for rain fall and it got me thinking about the term “It’s raining cats and dogs” and thought that would be a perfect theme for a post. So today we’ll be looking at handmade card ideas featuring cats and dogs using paper crafting products like stamps and dies. Pets are perfect for creating cards for just about any occasion and will be sure to put a big smile on any animal lovers face.

Allison used bright bold colors on her stamps from Sweet November for a festive card design. I love the box bursting full of treats, a balloon animal and big candle. And notice how she used markers to create her own floor and wall to complete the birthday scene. I spotted this on her i_card_so_hard Instagram page.
Monica used darling doggo stickers and a die that cuts open circles for this sweet card. She also used dies to create two paws up, adding some tiny pearls and a stamped sentiment too. Learn more at the Marianne Designs blog.
Lydia turned her stamped cat in the garden into a wonderful mosaic style card. She stamped and colored her images and then trimmed it into square and triangle corners and pieced it back together for a fun tiled look. Find her directions at Splitcoast Stampers.
Monica used stamps from Whimsy to create this fun card with a kitty just chillin’ in the pool. She used watercolors to color the image but also for the watery background, adding a few bubbles and splashes. These dogs are out of this world on a fun outer space themed card from Lauren. There’s amazing texture from a constellation dry embossing folder with foiled images over top with a foiled sentiment too. The dogs and Saturn were stamped and colored with alcohol based markers. These sweet kitties are sitting by a planter filled with beautiful pink rose on a card from Carol. She die cut all her images from cardstocks, adding inking and markers to them for shading and extra color. This adorable peeking pup card from Justin has a cute stamped dog, stamped and inked paw print background and stamped dog bowl card base. This card is a great masculine design for those dog loving guys. And I love the sentiment he used, dogs can always spot good people! When you pull the tab on this cute card from Irene the cats arms wave, how fun is that!? She created an ombre’ blue “Happy” repeat background with stenciling behind the stamped cats that were colored with Copic Markers. Take a closer at the Art Impressions blog.
Aww, who wouldn’t love to receive this heart felt card with a little English bulldog puppy? Gaylynn stamped and colored the pup on a die cut heart, coloringing with Copic markers. Chris used a large stacked cake die to create a yummy rainbow cake shaped card with die cut candles and sentiment at the top. At the bottom is a cute stamped cat with a cupcake. I came across this idea in The Stamps of Life gallery.
And lastly let’s finish up with a card from Ilina that has both a cat and dog. This adorable pairing were created with coordinating dies and stamps, she die cut the shapes, added shading with markers and then stamped in the details.
