Want to throw a Valentine’s Day party that no one will soon forget? It’s not as difficult as you might
think and you don’t have to blow the budget to make it happen. Some of the most memorable times are
the ones spent with good friends and family, but you can make your party more memorable when you
follow a few simple tips.
Here’s how to throw an unforgettable Valentine’s Day party:
Choose a theme or create your own. A theme is the foundation of your party. It’s what
everything else revolves around. For Valentine’s Day, your theme will center on love and
romance. However, you can add a little mystery by making it a masquerade party for adults,
which works for both couples and singles. If you have younger guests attending, a simple
costume party would create a lot of excitement.
Don’t skip on the decorations. The environment sets the mood and gets everyone excited about
the party as they arrive. It also makes a great conversation starter to help your guests feel at
ease. In addition to your hearts, cupids, balloons and bright colored streamers, make sure you
dim the lights, put on some music (or hire a DJ) and use aromatic candles to help create a warm,
romantic setting that’s unforgettable.
Create interest with your invitations. You want your guests to count down the days until the
party, so look for unique and interesting ways to invite them. You can do this by creating unique
invitations for each person or couple on your list, build up your theme or offer door prizes to
create interest.
Plan a few party games. There’s a lot to be said for great conversation but no party is complete
without a few fun games to keep the guests entertained and laughing. For example, set up a
game for couples to see how much they know about each other or play a snippet from popular
songs and have participants guess the name.
Get creative with your food and beverages. Even finger sandwiches, cookies, cakes and other
deserts can be interesting when they’re cut into shapes or decorated with special Valentine’s
Day messages. If you’re serving cocktails, hire a bartender to help make the whole experience
more memorable.
Don’t forget the party favors. Party favors show appreciation, and they’re a nice surprise that
people don’t forget. Present your guests with a small box of homemade cookies or candy (or
chocolates, if you don’t bake) as they leave. Other options include goodie baskets/bags, scented
candles and decorative pen and pad sets. For the kids, stickers are always a big hit.
In addition to these tips, relax and have a good time. You can’t plan for everything so why stress yourself
out trying? Some of the best memories happen spontaneously and your guests will love your positive
attitude and fun nature. Enjoy!
