How to Organize Your Auto Insurance Papers

March 4, 2015 by Shellie Wilson

car-organization-insurance-papers

I haven’t bothered organizing my Auto insurance and Auto registration papers into one place before. I didn’t really think of it until we needed them all at once when my husband (thank goodness it was not me) reversed out of our drive-away with a car door open and side swiped our other car at the same time. We were left with 2 cars damaged and one un-driveable as the door hung off. We had to find all the insurance papers whilst still kicking ourselves in the head as such a silly (expensive) mistake.  I am not sure why I couldn’t stick it up with Duct tape but apparently the insurance wouldn’t cover me for that? What! Don’t they know how versatile duct tape is?

Meantime we have been waiting for 3 weeks for the door to come in and be put back onto the car. We have one week to go till it is back from the repair shop. When that one comes back the other car will go in. We didn’t have hire car cover in our insurance policy which means I have been having to take my husband to the train station as part of the morning school run. Not really a major issue but he is always late getting ready which means the kids get late for school.

By late I mean before the bell but with only minutes to spare. I like to be early when I arrive somewhere to allow for natural disasters, broken down cars, attacks by UFO’s and the driving over a 4 inch chisel as we experienced last week in the last car standing which sat at the tyre repair store for 48 hours (whole other story).

We are having bad run with cars at the moment but at least now I can find all my insurance papers in one-spot. Yeah!
