Here is a simple tutorial for using wax chunks to make a candle.
To make the wax chunks:
Melt your wax in a double boiler or heat-safe container over a pot of boiling water.
If desired, add candle dye and fragrance oil to the melted wax and stir well.
Pour the melted wax into a silicone mold or a shallow container lined with wax paper. Be sure to fill the container only about halfway to avoid overflow.
Allow the wax to cool and harden for several hours.
Once the wax has hardened, remove it from the mold or container and cut it into small chunks of various sizes using a knife or break it apart with your hands. You can make the chunks as large or small as you like.
To drop the wax chunks into a candle mold:
Prepare your candle mold by placing a wick in the center and securing it in place with a wooden skewer or chopstick. Make sure the wick is centered and straight.
Melt a small amount of wax in a heat-safe container and use it to adhere the wax chunks to the sides of the mold. You can arrange the chunks in any pattern you like, or simply drop them in randomly.
Once the chunks are in place, melt the remaining wax and pour it into the mold, being careful not to disturb the arrangement of the chunks.
Allow the wax to cool and harden for several hours.
Once the wax has hardened, remove the candle from the mold and trim the wick to about 1/4 inch.
And there you have it – a beautiful chunk wax candle with colorful chunks throughout. You can experiment with different colors and chunk sizes to create unique and personalized candles. Have fun and enjoy the process!
