How to Fill a Balloon

June 23, 2013 by Shellie Wilson

gunnysack

Tonia from The Gunny Sack created these adorable balloon Pinata’s for Easter.

The reason I am sharing this is because of her simple but creative method in filling the balloons.

Each balloon is simply stretched over a empty soda pop bottle to widen the neck.

Think of all the things you could put into a surprise balloon. Love this idea!

Witch’s Brew Halloween Body Scrub – A Spooky DIY for Glowing Halloween Skin

When October hits and the pumpkins roll out, it’s the perfect time to stir up a little bubbling brew—for your skin! This Witch’s Brew Body Scrub is a fun, fizzy, exfoliating scrub made with natural ingredients and a hint of Halloween magic. It sloughs off dead skin, boosts circulation, and leaves you silky smooth, just in time for costume parties or cozy nights in.

Whether you’re prepping for a haunted house event or simply want a little pampering after handing out candy all night, this scrub is your go-to potion.

Why You’ll Love This DIY Halloween Scrub

  • Looks like a bubbling cauldron (especially in black or purple jars)
  • Gently exfoliates and moisturizes dry autumn skin
  • Scented with spooky-good essential oils (think patchouli, orange, and clove)
  • Made with simple pantry staples
  • Customisable with shimmer, color, or even candy eyeballs (for visual fun—not for use!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar (white or brown)
  • ¼ cup coconut oil (or grapeseed oil)
  • 1 tbsp activated charcoal (for a spooky black color)
  • ½ tsp green mica or cosmetic-grade shimmer (optional cauldron glow)
  • 5 drops orange essential oil
  • 3 drops clove essential oil
  • 2 drops patchouli or cinnamon essential oil
  • Optional: ½ tsp vanilla extract (for a sweet twist)
  • Optional topping: candy eyeballs or star confetti (for display only!)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine sugar, charcoal, and mica powder. Stir until evenly mixed.
  2. Add the coconut oil and stir to create a wet, sandy texture.
  3. Drop in the essential oils and vanilla extract, if using. Mix well.
  4. Spoon into a small jar or Halloween-themed container. If gifting, top with a candy eyeball or wrap with a “Witch’s Brew” label.

How to Use:

In the shower, scoop a tablespoon and gently massage into damp skin in circular motions. Avoid the face (due to charcoal), and rinse thoroughly. Follow with body butter or lotion for spellbinding softness.

Gifting Idea:

Pair it with a “Batty Bath Bomb” or “Pumpkin Spice Lip Balm” in a little Halloween basket. Great for party favours, teacher gifts, or seasonal markets!
