Valentine’s Day and men do not seem to go together very well since many guys really do not want flowers or chocolates (or do they?) and cute stuffed animals, well…probably not so much their style. Don’t be discouraged ladies, there are actually gifts you can give for Valentine’s Day that are right up his alley: homemade gift baskets. You can hand-make/pick the items that go in the basket and know that he will love it.†
Snack attack
The perfect guy gift basket: a treasure chest full of his favorite TV/game time snacks! Include all the yummy favorites like pretzels, cheese puffs, chips, mixed nuts, smoked sausages and cheeses and of course the soda. Put in little extras like dips, a small cutting board and knife and napkins. You can even look for a “manly” snack tray/serving platter to make using his gift even easier. Who knows, with an awesome gift like this, he might even be willing to share a little with you!
Sports
For the guy that loves his sport(s). You have some options for this basket: beer stein with his favorite team logo on it, collector cards, t-shirt/jersey, hat and even lounge pants. Add a sports cell phone case so he can show his team pride everywhere he goes. You can even find hand and bath towels with sports team logos on them. How about adding a pair of house shoes or a poster? All you have to do is search online or visit your local sports shops to find stuff he is sure to love!
Tool time
If your guy loves working on different projects, then he will love a tool gift basket! Things like a tape measure, different sized hammers, wrenches, socket sets and screwdriver sets are all good tools to add to the basket. You can also include containers of different sized nails, screws and bolts, a level and a flashlight. You can even add a toolbelt and heavy-duty work gloves to complete the gift basket. The truth is many guys enjoy tinkering around under the hood of their car or fixing whatever happens to be broken, so give him some tools that will make the job a little easier.
Hand made, home run
If your guy is like many, he loves anything you bake, so take some time to bake up some of his favorite treats like cookies or fudge or even brownies. If you have a bread maker, then you can bake up a special loaf of bread just for him (who does not love the smell and taste of homemade bread?), while you are assembling the other items to put in the basket. Little extras you can include are: jams for the bread, hot chocolate packets or single-serve coffee packets and a special mug.†
Now that you have some ideas for gifts baskets, Valentine’s Day will be a piece of cake, or bread or…well you get the point. Who knows, he may even start looking forward to Valentine’s Day each year from now on!
