Hand Rolled Cinnamon Bun Candle Instructions

May 18, 2011 by SandraW

Candle making is a fun and rewarding hobby that allows you to create your own personalized candles. One of the most popular types of candles is the cinnamon bun candle, which not only smells delicious but also looks adorable. However, many candle makers are put off by the need for a mold, which can be expensive and time-consuming. Fortunately, Starla from Wicks and Wax has come up with a solution – a tutorial for making cinnamon bun candles without a mold!

Starla’s tutorial is incredibly detailed and well-written, and best of all, it’s completely free! She generously shares her knowledge and expertise, and even offers the option to purchase a kit if you prefer. But don’t worry, the kit isn’t mandatory – you can easily gather the materials you need yourself.

To make cinnamon bun candles without a mold, you’ll need cinnamon roll fragrance oil, candle wax, wicks, real cinnamon, a pizza pan, scissors, and a knife. Starla emphasizes that you don’t need expensive molds to make these candles, making it an affordable and fun project for anyone to try.

By following Starla’s step-by-step instructions, you’ll be able to create your very own cinnamon bun candles that look and smell amazing. The tutorial is easy to follow, and even includes helpful photos to guide you along the way.

So why not give it a try? Head over to Candle Making Instructions: Cinnamon Buns for the full tutorial, and let us know how it goes if you try it! Making your own cinnamon bun candles without a mold is a fun and creative way to enjoy candle making without breaking the bank.

As Starla says,” You don’t need a lot of fancy expensive molds for the cinnamon roll.  Why waste all that money on molds, when candle making can be inexpensive, after all what you really want is fun, not expense.” You got that right. I’m hunting down my cinnamon! See Candle Making Instructions: Cinnamon Buns for the full tutorial and let me know how it went if you try it.

Knit a Blanket with the Texture of a Ceiling

Knitwear designers can get inspiration from almost anything when it comes to re-creating a color scheme, an image or a texture in stitches. Sometimes the inspiration isn’t always obvious in the finished project, but sometimes it’s more literal.

That’s the way it is with the Tin Ceiling Blanket from Purl Soho. Not just because the inspiration is in the name, but if you’ve ever seen one of these old ceilings you can see that the design of the blanket is quite similar to the pattern of the tin tiles.

This is also a good example of the idea that you don’t have to use fancy stitch patterns or lots of color to make a big impact with your knits. This single-color blanket (designed by Gianna Mueller and inspired by a washcloth and towel set designed by Sandi Rosner) is made completely with knits and purls, other than slipped stitches at the beginning of rows to make neater edges.

The pattern is written out row by row, but there’s also a chart, which means this project is a great opportunity to practice reading a chart where you can check your work against the written pattern if you need to.

It comes in two sizes, a crib blanket and a throw. The yarn used in the sample is an organic cotton sold by the cone, which is a great way to get a large quantity of yarn and have fewer ends to weave in. In fact, you can knit either size of the blanket with just one cone of yarn, which isn’t inexpensive but makes you a great, sturdy, heirloom quality but still washable blanket you’ll use for years to come. (Of course you can use any sport weight yarn you like to make this blanket.)
