The Glass Quarterly Hot Sheet is always a good source of information regarding glass and its industrial uses. Art is important but since glass is such a large part of everyone’s life it’s good to pass on information on other glass news. This story is about “green” glass and the many colors that are now available in bottles. The glass manufacturer Verallia in South Seattle has invested over 20 million dollars to renovate their plant so they can make more of their bottles out of recycled cullet, crushed recycled glass. They receive a lot of their cullet from Canada and the Seattle area and most of the bottles they make go to wineries in the Pacific Northwest. This is good for them and good for the planet. Everyone wins!
