Glass casting is a process in which glass objects, either functional or artistic, are produced using a mould. This technique has been used since the Egyptian period, and objects produced this way are referred to as “cast glass”. Modern cast glass is formed primarily by two processes, sand casting or kiln casting. (from wikipedia).
One example of glass casting is David Reekie’s work. It is both whimsical and sophisticated at the same time. I love the social statements he makes with the images he creates through his castings.
