So you’re going to get married? Congratulations! Planning a DIY wedding is going to be the greatest, most exciting, darned stressful thing you’re going to do for a long time. You’ll spend hours searching for the perfect things: the perfect dress, the perfect flowers, the perfect items for your menus. If you’re coming up short in your search for perfection, you might consider making your own wedding craft. What a great idea! After all, you’d get to inject your own creativity, your personality, and your time into your wedding. While you’re planning the best day of your life, you’ll be creating amazing memories and keepsakes if you choose to create something special for the event. The only question is, what on earth is going to be the perfect wedding craft? Here are some questions to consider while you’re looking for just the right thing.
Choose your medium
Do you like to paint? Are you fantastic with an embroidery needle or a crochet hook? Now is the time to think about what you’re going to use as your medium. Whatever medium you choose is going to be important. Remember, you have to select wisely: after all, you don’t want to end up with a pile full of craft supplies and a lack of inspiration.
Infuse your personality – and your future spouse’s
What do you and your spouse to enjoy doing? Are you skydivers? Do you enjoy adventuring into parts unknown? Do you love visiting wineries? Take the time to inject your personality into your perfect craft. Use wine corks, or parachutes, or a map of all the places you have traveled to. It is critical to be certain that you choose something that shows off your personality without being over the top ( unless, of course, being over the top is part of your personality too).
Friends or no friends
Many a wedding party has broken up over the planning process leading up to the day. If you’re going to pick a craft, decide whether you’re going to choose to include your wedding party or not. If you have a set of friends who are very busy or live far away, you may decide that including them on your crafting crusade may not be the best idea. If you choose to include them and they seem less than inspired, don’t worry about it. After all, it isn’t about them, it is about you and your nuptials.
Whatever you decide, it is going to be a wonderful addition to your wedding if you decide to create something special. There are so many more questions to ask yourself to help land on the right craft. Keepsake or table decoration? Gift for the wedding party or the parents? Be sure, most of all, to pick something you can make easily. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself, your fiance or your wedding party. With so many other decisions to make, it is time to get to it. Pick the perfect thing, and get to it.
