Materials:
- Hand of Fatima silicone mold
- Good-quality white chocolate (couverture if possible)
- Oil-based food coloring (Diwali hues like saffron orange, rich fuchsia, peacock blue, or royal purple)
- Edible gold leaf sheets or flakes
- Clean paintbrush or tweezers (for gold leaf)
- Microwave-safe bowl
- Spoon or small spatula
- Gift boxes or clear cellophane bags + ribbon (optional for gifting)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Melt the White Chocolate
- Roughly chop your white chocolate into even chunks.
- Microwave in 20–30 second bursts, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted. (Avoid overheating — white chocolate is fussy!)
2. Tint the Chocolate
- Once melted, divide into small bowls if using multiple colors.
- Add a drop or two of oil-based food coloring. Stir until evenly tinted. You can create stunning jewel tones for a rich Diwali vibe.
Tip: Don’t use water-based gel colors — they’ll seize your chocolate!
3. Fill the Mold
- Pour or spoon the colored chocolate into the mold cavities.
- Tap the mold gently on the counter to remove air bubbles and level the tops.
- Chill in the fridge for 10–15 minutes until fully set.
4. Decorate with Edible Gold
- Carefully unmold the chocolates once set.
- Use a dry food-safe paintbrush or tweezers to apply edible gold leaf to the raised details or center of the hand design.
- Press lightly so it adheres to the chocolate. A little gold goes a long way — think elegant, not gaudy.
Optional: Dust with a shimmer powder for extra sparkle.
5. Package for Gifting
- Place 1–3 chocolates in clear bags and tie with gold ribbon, or use small jewelry-style boxes with a Diwali tag.
- You could even include them in Diwali hampers or serve with cardamom chai at your celebration table.
I made a test batch of these with my daughter last year, and we both agreed — they looked way fancier than the effort it took. Aloo, our dog, kept trying to sniff them out, so definitely store them out of reach of both pets and husbands!
