Craft Business Mentor Village

November 25, 2018 by Shellie Wilson

Trying to set up your own Craft Blog? Get a craft book published? Or sell your handmade crafts?

Then we have a group for you – The Craft Business Mentor Village

UPDATED HERE IS OUR SPIN OFF FREE GROUP

What if you could belong to a group of mentors to help setup your craft business. A hand selected group of successful craft business owners who will come together and take you under their wings.

We are talking about a “village” to help raise your handmade crafty business to meet its full potential. I have been in the craft blogging industry for over 18 years, that’s my whole adult life and everyday I am still learning, learning new technical skills and learning to adapt to the every changing online world. It’s confusing, it’s overwhelming but I have rode the ups and downs of the Internet to sit here, 18 years later and I can wholeheartedly say not only did I survive all those changes, I am successful.

What does successful mean to me? Even with the complications of Facebook’s algorithms and Googles heavy restrictions, I am still able to bring in enough income that I do not have to go out to do a 9-5 job in an industry that doesn’t fill me with joy. Crafting is my life and the fact that I can make money from it is amazing!  Not only am I able to support myself financially I am able to take on a team of editors who help deliver content and pay their own bills.

So why do you need our help? It’s not an easy path; in fact there has been so many ups and downs in my business that I have had to evolve more times than I have had to unstick my fingers from super glue or vacuum up a container of glitter that fell to the floor.

Most bloggers think if they write it, they will come. There is NO truth to that. If you don’t tell anyone you are there, no one is looking for you.

Let’s be realistic; the heyday of Internet takeovers are probably gone, No one is likely to buy your blog for 600K; in fact you’re probably not going to sell a zillion printed craft books either.

But that doesn’t mean we take on a “normal” job does it? No! We evolve.

But how do you evolve when there are so many different things happening online? That’s where the mentors, experts in each field, come into play. Or in our case, to chat in our group.

Learn from their mistakes, and their successes! Why shouldn’t you learn from someone else’s mistakes? Why shouldn’t you learn how to run the best craft business you can from the moment you start?

It has taken me 18 years to get my business to where it is and boy do I have so many regrets and I want to share them all with you. But I admit I don’t know everything and my biggest regret was not putting my hand up and asking for help. I thought I could do it all and teach my self about Facebook, Pinterest and Etsy. I was struggling and I was failing.

18 years later I have learnt to ask for help. Forget what every business guru has told you, it IS okay to share information with like minded people, it is okay to network with your own crafting niche. Want to write a craft book but scared to talk to any authors incase they steal your idea? Well then how are you going to learn? By breaking down those barriers and joining our village of experts.

In our forum, not only have I sourced experts but I have sought out experts who are willing to sit down and answer your questions, provide tips and chat with you on videos and even live interactions via Facebook live videos. If they don’t know something, guess what? They will tap into their own contacts and resources and we will all work together to grow your business to be the best craft business it can be.
