What happens when you make slime? Apart from a gooey mess I mean. The glue has an ingredient called polyvinyl acetate, (PVA Glue) which is a liquid polymer. The borax or liquid starch depending on which you use connects the polyvinyl acetate molecules to each other, creating one large conjoined flexible polymer.
15 oz container clear glue
1 cup hot water
1/3 tsp borax
¼ cup room temperature water
Coloring – I used a mix of lemon and sunset yellow
Glitter – I used a light golden yellow.
In a container, pour 1 cup of hot water.
Add 1/3 tsp of borax and mix well.
In a second bowl or container, fill with ¼ cup room temperature water.
Squeeze an entire bottle (5 oz) of clear glue.
Swirl in your coloring. We switched to soap/bath bomb colorings. The color is great and they don’t stain your hands like the food coloring did! I used a mix of sunset yellow and lemon.
Pour in some glitter and mix.
Cut a magic eraser into chunks. These will be your pineapple! You don’t have to use all of it. (Actually, I recommend not!)
Put your ‘pineapple chunks’ into the mix and coat them until they color.
Add several drops of pineapple scent to your mixture.
Pour the glue mixture into the water and borax mixture.
Let it sit for 30 seconds. You will see the slime begin to form.
Rinse your glue container quickly or get a third container. Remove the slime from the water and into your clean container.
It will be sticky at first that’s ok! Knead the slime. If needed, splash a bit of the borax/water on it until it becomes the consistency that you want it.
Store in airtight container.
