As my counter top projects moves forward I want to share some of the glass situations I encounter and my solutions to problems and questions I have. Today I’m sharing calculating the volume/quantity of glass I’ll need to achieve the size and thickness I’m looking for. One of the best sources for this kind of information is fusedglass.org and that’s where I’m headed for my answers. They are kind enough to have a calculator to plug your number into and ta da, here’s how much glass you need. I’ll need about 88 lbs 8oz. Yikes. there are two methods you can use to get your number for the calculator, water in grams or cubic inches/centimeters. I used the cubic inch approach since I’m not doing lost wax for this project. All I need is the length, width and depth. So easy. Thanks fusedglass.org.
