Borosilicate glass beads.

January 12, 2009 by lori greenberg

More glass beads today.  These are made of borosilicate glass by Stoney Marie and can be found once again, on Etsy.  That place sure is picking up to be the go to place for handcrafted goods, isn’t it?

Boro beads are different than a lot of the brightly colored glass beads that you see around in that it takes a lot more heat to melt the glass.  It also helps to explain why their prices are a bit higher.  You would think that working with glass and making beads is all the same.  Not so.  Working boro glass is a totally different art from working other glass.  Colors react differently and the glass moves differently when molten.

Just thought you might like to know that.
