10 Handmade Cards with Autumn Leaves
Lydia placed her Fall leaves under a trendy die cut arch with a clean white base that pulls focus to them. The die cut leaves were inked in rusty colors with touches of glitter for some sparkle. There’s also a fun stamped and die cut arched sentiment too. Take a closer look at the Altenew blog.
One of my favorite times in the Fall is when all the leaves change color, that stunning bold transformation always puts a smile on my face. It’s also the perfect time to put a smile on someone else’s face with my handmade cards that feature those beautiful Autumn leaves. Grab all those orange, red, green and brown ink pads, colored pencils and markers and your leaf stamps, dies and stencils to create some Fall magic with colorful Leaf Cards. Let’s find some inspiration today with fresh new ideas.
The faux postage craze is still going strong and Sandi used it here on her beautiful card design. She die cut the postage bases and frames, stenciled a soft polka dot background and then placed her stamped and die cut leaves and sunflower in each section, leaving one for the sentiment. I spotted her idea on the Gina K. Designs Instagram page.
Sophie’s clean and simple card requires no coloring, created mainly with dies cut from colored cardstocks, she created a lovely wreath. She included pumpkins and a heat embossed Halloween sentiment overtop of a die cut plaid background. There’s a few clear gems for shimmer as well. Find more info at the Pretty Pink Posh blog.
The darling acorns are the star of the show on Samantha’s sweet Fall card but you can’t have acorns without leaves too. She created a border of die cut leaves, added the to the top corners and on the acorn tops too, adding ink blending in oranges and browns that work perfectly with the plaid and dotted pattern papers. Lisa’s stunning Autumn sympathy cards used a resist technique. She white heat embossed the image then ink blended Distress Inks over top and wiped away the excess to reveal the design. She also added gold paint splatter and a sentiment strip. Watch her video tutorial on the Unity Stamps blog.
Amy’s amazing scene card captures all the joy of jumping in a big pile of leaves. She stamped her background trees, fox and bunny, coloring them all in with alcohol based Copic Markers, filling in the entire panel with color and stamping a small sentiment at the bottom. Take a closer peek at A Thousand Sheets of Paper blog.
Jenn used a rainbow of Distress watercolor pencils for a mixed media technique to create the wonderful, colorful leaves on her two cards. There’s also a artsy textured background and for some shine she used glaze and glitter. I came across her idea on her Jenn Shurkus Instagram page.
Kristina designed some amazing graphic leaf cards for Autumn using stencils. She applied different colors of ink on a single leaf stencil and then stenciled tiny dots or stamped a woodgrain pattern over top. Then she used a combination of die cutting gold paper, heat embossing with gold on black and die cut vellum to make the pretty sentiments. Watch her video tutorial on the K. Werner Designs blog.
Carol combined orange and yellow papers with gold paper and gold foiling for a beautiful shimmery leaf card. All the foliage and words are die cut and there’s a torn pattern paper corner and tiny gems. Metallics are the perfect accent for the rich bold colors of Fall! I spotted her idea in her Scrapbooks and More gallery at Scrapbook.com.
Nothing says Fall quite like plaid. Erin used plaid pattern papers in green and orange for the border and some die cut leaves on her sweet design. She fanned out her leaves, adding some twigs on a matted arch with a long oval sentiment and some tied twine. I love the woodgrain dry embossed background, it works perfectly with the leaves! Check out her card at her Crafty Concepts with Erin Instagram page.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this stroll through the Autumn leaves with me!
