Whether you’re craving a moment of calm between holiday chaos, looking for an affordable pampering session, or just love smelling like a walking bakery (guilty!), this recipe is a keeper.

Why You’ll Love This Sugar Cookie Scrub

• Smells like a cozy kitchen – nostalgic and comforting
• Naturally exfoliates – buffs away dull, flaky skin
• Deeply hydrates – thanks to skin-loving coconut oil
• Customisable scent – play with extracts or essential oils
• Pantry-friendly – you likely have everything on hand
• Fast & foolproof – done in under 10 minutes

And honestly, who doesn’t want to come out of the shower smelling like they’ve been baking cookies all day… without washing up a single mixing bowl?

Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s what you’ll need to whip up this decadent DIY body treat:

• 1 cup white sugar – soft enough for face and body, exfoliates gently
• ½ cup soft brown sugar – adds a caramel warmth and enhances scrub texture
• ½ cup coconut oil – solid or soft at room temp, provides deep moisture
• 1 tsp vanilla extract – for that classic sugar cookie scent
• ½ tsp almond extract (optional) – adds a toasty bakery note
• 1 tbsp vitamin E oil (optional) – acts as a natural preservative and skin soother
• Dash of ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional) – adds a holiday touch
• For added fragrance, add some Sugar Cookie Fragrance oil.

Note: Want a fluffier texture? Whip the coconut oil with a hand mixer before adding the sugar for a whipped body scrub feel.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Mix the sugars

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the white and brown sugars. Stir together until blended and sandy in texture.

2. Add the oils and extracts

Add the coconut oil, vanilla, almond extract, and vitamin E oil (if using). Mix well with a spoon or spatula until it forms a thick, scoopable paste. You want it to look like sugar cookie dough—tempting, but don’t eat it!

3. Spice it (if desired)

Add a small sprinkle of ground cinnamon or nutmeg for a holiday-inspired twist. A little goes a long way.

4. Jar it up

Spoon the scrub into a clean, dry jar with a lid. Label it, decorate it, and boom—instant spa vibes in a jar.

How to Use Sugar Cookie Scrub

This scrub is gentle enough to use 2–3 times a week, but rich enough to leave you feeling silky with just one use.

1. Wet your skin in the shower or bath.
2. Scoop out a small amount (about 1 tbsp).
3. Massage into your skin using circular motions—concentrate on dry spots like elbows, knees, and heels.
4. Rinse off thoroughly and pat dry.
5. Marvel at how soft you feel (and how delicious you smell!).

Pro Tip: For extra pampering, apply right before shaving for smoother legs and longer-lasting results.

Skin Type Notes

• Dry skin: This scrub is ultra-moisturizing thanks to the coconut oil.
• Sensitive skin: Stick to white sugar only and avoid spices.
• Oily skin: Use sparingly and rinse well. You can swap coconut oil for grapeseed or jojoba for a lighter feel.

Storage and Shelf Life

Because it’s an oil-based scrub with no water content, this recipe has a relatively long shelf life.

• Store in an airtight jar away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Use a dry spoon or spatula to scoop it out—avoid introducing water.
• Stays fresh for 2–3 months if handled properly.

Want to preserve it longer for gifting? Add a few drops of rosemary antioxidant or preservative like Optiphen (optional).

Seasonal Variations

Feeling creative? Here are some fun seasonal tweaks:

Peppermint Sugar Cookie Scrub

• Replace almond extract with peppermint extract
• Add crushed candy cane pieces for texture and color

Gingerbread Body Scrub

• Add ½ tsp each of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg
• Use brown sugar only for a rich molasses color

Lemon Shortbread Scrub

• Use lemon extract or essential oil instead of vanilla
• Add a tiny bit of dried lemon zest

Strawberry Sugar Cookie Scrub

• Add a few drops of strawberry fragrance oil or extract
• Tint with natural beetroot powder or pink clay

I’ve made this scrub so many times, especially around Christmas. One year, I forgot to bake for the teachers’ gifts—mum fail. But this sugar cookie scrub saved me. I popped it into some cute jars with ribbon and tags, and voilà: instant thoughtful gift that smelled way better than burnt shortbread.

So whether you’re crafting for yourself or your gift list, this recipe is simple, heartfelt, and just plain fun. No preservatives, no mystery ingredients—just good, honest self-care with a side of sweetness.
