DIY Bath Soak To Help Remove Fake Tan – A Simple At-Home Fix For Orange Hands And Streaky Skin

We have all had a fake tan moment that started with confidence and ended with orange knuckles, patchy elbows, or feet that look like they have been dipped in tea. That is exactly why this CraftBits project is such a handy one to keep tucked away for summer, holidays, weddings, or any time a self-tanning experiment gets a little too enthusiastic.

The CraftBits project Bath Soak to Remove Fake Tan shares a very simple recipe using baking soda or bicarbonate soda, water, and a few drops of lemon essential oil. The mixture is made into a thick paste, applied to the skin, left for around 20 minutes, then gently exfoliated and rinsed away. The original tutorial also points out that baking soda can be drying, so moisturising afterwards is important.

What I like about this one is that it is refreshingly realistic. It does not promise to magically erase a bad tan in thirty seconds, but it may help soften and lift some of the colour, especially in those stubborn areas where fake tan likes to cling for dear life. Think knees, ankles, wrists, elbows, and the dreaded finger webs.

This is a useful little DIY beauty fix for readers who enjoy natural bath and body recipes, especially if they already use pantry ingredients in their skincare routine. It also pairs nicely with other easy homemade skin-care projects from CraftBits Bath and Body Crafts, particularly body scrubs, bath soaks, and moisturising recipes.

A little word from experience: go gently. If your skin is already irritated, sunburnt, freshly shaved, or sensitive, do not scrub like you are sanding an old chair. Use a soft cloth, rinse well, and follow with a rich body butter or gentle moisturiser. A tub of plain aloe gel or a simple fragrance-free body cream from Amazon is useful to keep on hand for these “oops, I overdid it” beauty moments.

This is a great quick DIY beauty rescue for anyone searching for how to remove fake tan at home, DIY fake tan remover, or natural fake tan removal bath soak. It is simple, inexpensive, and uses ingredients many of us already have in the pantry.

Best for: fake tan mishaps, patchy self-tanner, orange elbows, streaky legs, and anyone who has ever said “it looked fine in the bathroom light.”
