30 Christmas Slime Recipes To Give As Gifts

November 27, 2020 by Shellie Wilson

Slime, glorious slime, it is fun to make and fun to play with. Slime is the perfect tactile stocking filler and is a very popular gift to handout in the classroom. I have included some free slime gift tag labels below to pop onto your slime gifts.

Most slime recipes contain one of the three following base ingredients

Borax
Contact Solution
Liquid Starch

Whilst slime may seem easy to make sometimes it can be hit and miss. To be honest, for kids that is all part o the fun, but when you are making it for gifting you want success. I have to say one of the best products I used for guaranteed results, I picked up off the bottom shelf of my supermarket aisle. It was Elmers slime kit.  It comes in all different kits, but I just picked up the basic one at the time and the kids added their own things such as Glitter, cut out shapes and pom-poms.

Snow Slime In A Jar – Homemade Gifts For Kids

When making slime to gift, make sure you use airtight containers and always use clean utensils and wash your hands, this helps to reduce the chances of mold growing on your slime. This makes it easier to make it up a few days before you gift it without any issues.  I like to gift my slime in wide-mouthed containers, it makes it easier for hands of all sizes to get it out of the container. It also makes it easier for them to put it away too.  Slime should always be kept away from small children and animals. You may want to add some extra items for the kids to mix into their slimes, such as pom-poms or trinkets. The kids then can add their own addins to a basic colored slime recipe. This will give them the feeling of making their own slime but without all the hassle of course.

Here are my top tips for making and cleaning up slime –

  1. Always use a large mixing bowl when making slime to avoid any messes.
  2. Use a disposable spoon or spatula to mix the ingredients together to make cleaning up easier.
  3. When adding food coloring or glitter, start with a small amount and gradually add more until you reach the desired color or sparkle.
  4. Always supervise children while they are making and playing with the slime to avoid any accidents or ingestions
  5. After playing with the slime, make sure to store it in an airtight container to keep it from drying out.

As for cleaning up, here are a few tips:

  1. Use a plastic tablecloth or newspaper to cover your work surface to make cleaning up easier.
  2. Use baby wipes or damp paper towels to clean any residue left on hands or surfaces.
  3. Wash any bowls or utensils used in warm soapy water.
  4. If the slime gets on clothes or fabrics, scrape off any excess and then wash as usual.
  5. If the slime is too hard to clean or remove, try using a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda to help dissolve it.
