15 Minute Valentines Day Candle Idea

January 8, 2014 by Shellie Wilson

Quick-and-Easy-DIY-Gold-Sharpie-Candle-great-holiday-gift-idea1

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to show your loved ones how much you care, and what better way to do that than with a personalized gift? Candles are a classic gift that are loved by everyone, and this DIY candle project is a great way to add a special touch to your gift.

Originally borrowed from a Christmas project, this candle-making tutorial is perfect for Valentine’s Day too. It’s a great way to get creative and make something special for your loved ones. With just a few simple ceramic pots and some sharpies, you can create beautiful and unique candles that will impress your loved ones.

If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, you can make your own candles from scratch using wax and fragrance oils. This will allow you to create custom scents and colors that are perfect for Valentine’s Day. However, if you’re short on time or simply prefer to take the easy route, you can also pick up a ready-made candle and decorate it with sharpies.

The possibilities for decorating your candles are endless. You can draw hearts, write sweet messages, or even create intricate designs using different colors and patterns. The key is to let your creativity flow and make something that truly reflects your personality and style.

Once your candles are decorated, you can light them up and enjoy their warm glow and beautiful fragrance. They also make great gifts for your friends and family, and are sure to be cherished for years to come.

12+ Mermaid Cards to Celebrate MerMay

12+ Mermaid Cards to Celebrate MerMay

One of my favorite companies for Mermaid stamps is Sweet November, with clear and digital images you’ll find so many wonderful designs. Amy Young is sharing four stunning cards using new or new to the public stamps for beautiful underwater scenes colored with Copic Markers with cute sentiments added. Learn more at A Thousand Sheets of Paper blog.

Each year in May artists, crafters and creators celebrate (or should I say shell-abrate?) MerMay with lots of artistic expressions that feature Mermaids. As someone who loves fantasy and especially Mermaids I love checking out all the art on Instagram and all over social media, especially paper crafting and cards that feature them. So again this year let’s take a look at some amazing handmade Mermaid card ideas.

Below each photo you’ll see a link, click it for more details like products used, tutorials and techniques.

One of the fun things about Mermaids is you can color them however you’d like with different skin, hair and tail colors. Deborah gave her Mermaid pink hair and added pink to the fins too and I’m here for it! Her ocean floor is made from torn Kraft cardstock and die cut seaweed, rocks and glittery coral. Find more info at The Greeting Farm blog.

Elaine used a long oval die cut from a green cardstock deckle edged panel and added a gold foiled oval that gives the feel of looking out a porthole at the pretty Mermaid. Watch her Copic Marker coloring video for this stamp over at the Marker Geek blog.

Danni used a trio fold die to created this stunning step card that reminds me of a certain “Little Mermaid”. On the card bases there’s glittery scales, lots of bubbles, die cut coral and seaweed with the cute red headed stamped Mermaid along with her fish and crab friends. I spotted this idea on Danni’s Dreams Instagram page.

This darling Mermaid has a sweet Narwhal friend on a clean card from Ilina. She stamped ink black and heat embossed with clear powder so the watercolor markers she used wouldn’t cause the ink to run. I love the rainbow colors she used on her tail! Swim over to the Trinity Stamps blog for more details.

This Mermaid wants to be part of our world and has decided to do some sun bathing on the beach. Jenn created an amazing shaker card with sequins in a shaker pocket for the underwater section below the beach, there’s also stamped sea life, die cut waves and die cut and stamped sentiment too. Find the details at the Lawn Fawn blog.

Marine used a trendy color combo of pinks and teals for this Mer-mazing card. Her trio of stamp Mermaids are sending their own handmade cards sitting among the coral, stenciled waves and swimming sea animals. There’s also small shaker elements with die cut hearts in the background. Splash over to the Sunny Studio blog for more.

Anna used stamps from Colorado Craft Company for her beautiful underwater card with a Mermaid swimming with Penguins in the kelp. I love how there is no white space, every part of the scene is colored in which helps give a deep under the sea feel to the design! I spotted her idea at the Sparkly Wallflower Instagram page.

Rick created 5 cards with the same Mermaid Party stamp set to have several cute birthday cards on hand when he needs them. Keeping to a similar color palate for the Mermaids makes coloring go quickly and he just changed up the pattern paper layer and included different sentiments. Watch his video tutorial on the C. C. Designs blog.

Davina created a fun background for her Mermaid card using a sectioned frame die and backed it with pretty pattern papers. In front she added her darling stamped Mermaid and her fishy friend using stamps from My Favorite Things. I came across her idea on the Popsiclesticks Instagram page.

This stunning Mermaid is sunning herself on a rocky beach with her bold green tail and blue and green hair. Jennifer created an amazing background for this scene with just a simple stamped sentiment and black card base so the whole design really shines. You can purchase this digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps.

I love all the hot pink Fleurette used on her beautiful Mermaid on an anchor tag. The background has schools of heat embossed fish, some washi tape and green inking with twine tied at the top of the tag. I spotted this at the Ink On 3 Instagram.

I hope you’ve been inspired to participate in MerMay this year, simply create your cards and add them to social media using the hashtag #MerMay, I’d love to see them!
