Candles are a simple and classic way to add warmth and ambiance to any room. Whether you prefer the soft glow of a pillar candle or the flickering light of a votive, there’s nothing quite like the ambiance created by the gentle flicker of a flame. However, sometimes store-bought candles can feel a little bland or uninspired. That’s where candle embellishment comes in!
With a little creativity and a few supplies, you can easily transform boring store-bought candles into unique and eye-catching centerpieces or home decor accents. Here are thirteen ways to embellish your candles and add a personal touch:
- Add glitter or sequins: A sprinkle of glitter or a few sequins can add a touch of glamour to any candle. Simply brush a thin layer of glue onto the candle and sprinkle on your choice of sparkly embellishment.
- Wrap with twine or ribbon: Wrapping a candle with twine or ribbon is a simple and easy way to add texture and interest.

How to add a Photo to a candle:
Adding a photo to a candle is a fun and creative way to personalize a gift or add a special touch to your home decor. With some simple supplies and a little bit of patience, you can easily create a beautiful photo candle. Follow these steps to add a photo to a candle:
Supplies needed:
A pillar candle
Tissue paper
Printer
Tape
Scissors
Hairdryer
Wax paper
Instructions:
Choose a photo that you would like to transfer onto the candle. Make sure that the photo is printed in reverse, so it appears correctly once transferred onto the candle.
Cut a piece of tissue paper that is slightly larger than your photo. Tape your photo face down onto the tissue paper.
Cut the tissue paper around the photo, leaving a small border of tissue paper around the edges.
Place the tissue paper onto a piece of wax paper. Heat up your hairdryer and use it to blow hot air over the tissue paper. The heat will help the tissue paper to adhere to the wax paper and the photo to transfer onto the tissue paper.
Once the tissue paper cools down, carefully peel it off the wax paper. Your photo should now be transferred onto the tissue paper.
Place the tissue paper onto the candle where you would like the photo to be. Make sure it is centered and smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles.
Cut a piece of wax paper that is slightly larger than the candle. Wrap the wax paper tightly around the candle, making sure the tissue paper is sandwiched between the wax paper and the candle.
Heat up your hairdryer again and use it to blow hot air over the wax paper-covered candle. The heat will melt the wax just enough to make it soft and pliable, which will help the tissue paper to adhere to the candle.
Once the wax has melted slightly, gently rub the wax paper with your fingers to smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles. Be careful not to press too hard or the tissue paper may tear.
Allow the candle to cool completely before removing the wax paper. Once the wax paper is removed, you should have a beautiful photo candle.
Adding a photo to a candle is a simple and easy way to create a personalized gift or add a special touch to your home decor. With a little bit of creativity, you can use this technique to make a wide variety of photo candles, each with its own unique style and character.
