You might not think of printing baby photos in black and white but this trend works well if you’re including lots of photos so the colors don’t clash. This page captures baby through the year and has a bright, modern color scheme, not a pastel in sight. Take a closer look at Karlla’s page at the Simple Stories blog.
So, what do I mean by “Modern” baby layouts? I mean we don’t always have to use pink and blue pastel colors, fluffy animals or lots of ruffles when designing a scrapbook layout for a baby. Not that there’s anything wrong with that style at all but let’s try to branch out, step outside of the box and use trendy colors, patterns and designs for a more current, hip, boho or trendy baby design. Today let’s take a look at some ideas for inspiration for the modern baby.
Below each photo you’ll see a link, click it for more details like products used and tips.
This darling design uses woodgrain and checks with lots of trendy teal. Leaf edge borders top and bottom are created with scalloped die cut circles with sticker centers along with a panel for journaling and a few more sticker embellishments. Take a look at the details on the Creative Memories blog.
This wonderful layout has loads of texture from a stencil paste background and torn pattern paper border. A thin tag for journaling is tied with sting and clusters of flowers and butterflies surround the photo. I spotted this idea on the Kitaholic Kits Instagram page.
The Boho trend has been popular for a bit and the soft colors work well for babies, this is a more modern version of pastels. The terrific design has lots of pattern papers with a border, a circle over top and a grid square of four photos along with lots of cute images for a graphic look. Learn more at the Jana Eubank blog.
This darling digital design inserts a bundled up baby in a story book forest background. There’s another smaller photo and typed journaling with a cluster of Fall embellishments. These rich tones give the page a modern, bookish look. I spotted this in Glori’s gallery at Ginger Scraps.
This layout does have pastel pink and fluffy animals but the stitching and rough edges of the cloud dies, splatters, wooden buttons and pops of gold make this a clearly modern design. Anna breaks it all down at the Cocoa Vanilla blog.
This darling design has a large grid of square punched pattern papers with faux stitching created with pen marks and black and white embellishments for a shabby chic layout style. It’s a great way to use up all those scraps of paper. Take a closer look at Jo-Jo’s page at the Counterfeit Kit blog.
Creams and seafoam greens are accented with pops of dark coral on this wonderful layout. The illustration style gives a current story time look on a design that’s filled with images and sentiments but still isn’t too busy. I spotted this on the Mintay Papers Instagram page.
Get a clean modern look with a stark white background and a graphic circle in the center. The title is curved around the circular edge and clusters of flowers and a deer in soft greys doesn’t distract from the round photo. I came across this in Keep Scrappin’s gallery at Scrapbook.com.
This fun and festive layout has lots of layers of tags and pattern paper behind the photo, pom pom trim, loads of silver stars, threads and a bunch of cool acrylic shapes and words. Elephants, moons and stars still add a bit of a baby feel for this sleep over layout. Learn more at the Bramble Fox blog.
Clear stamping in black ink and a black and white photo have a tiny touch of color from floral washi tape and a green letter M on this beautiful tall layout from Kari. Again a white background and different text in the stamping keep it graphic and modern. Find all the details on Kerri Bradford’s blog.
Heather created a stunning background with diagonal pattern papers stitched together with a large offset die cut title with woodgrain details. Different sentiments and clusters of flowers are scattered around as well. I spotted this on the Hey Heather Scrapbooks Instagram page.
I hope today you’ve been inspired to take some chances with your baby layouts for some cool, trendy, modern designs!
