Paradise City Arts Festival
October 16, 2008 |
Lisa our very first Roving Star Guest Editor had this to say about Paradise City Arts Festival :
I am SO lucky that the Paradise City Arts Festival practically right in my backyard. Two – or maybe it’s three times a year – hundreds of artists converge on Northampton, MA, and I’m getting into the habit of going, and going again. This year, I went Memorial Day weekend, and again this past weekend. Each event is three days long, but I’m glad when I can get away for a full afternoon to wander and admire and be inspired.
I don’t always buy – in fact, I rarely buy – but I love to look. I’m amazed by the quality and the variety of the art: jewelry in metal, polymer clay, enamel, and beads; pottery to use, to hang on walls, to adorn tabletops; sculpture in wood, metal, and glass; paintings; weavings, floorcloths; clocks, hammocks, furniture . . . It feels endless. I don’t think I’ve ever made it through all four buildings. I guess that’s why I just want to keep going back.
If the art alone weren’t enough, the weather was what New England falls are known for and leaves were at peak. I had the company of my mother-in-law and my six-year-old daughter, and I completely forgot the wicked cold I was fighting. Grandma bought an action flower brooch from Louise Fischer Cozzi and little-one had a hard time understanding why all of the beautiful sparkly things were only for grown-ups.
The food at this festival comes from local restaurants, and it’s as stunning as the art. When’s the last time you had Pad Thai or Indian-spiced Pomegranate Chicken at an art show? Maybe you’ll want to join us next year? Actually, you don’t have to wait - Paradise City comes to Marlborough, MA in November!
