I use to do hooked rugs years ago (latched). I even had my son, who was 10 yrs. old at the time, doing them with me. I haven’t done much crafting lately and this looks like something I may enjoy. Somehow I doubt my son, who is now 40 yrs. old, will join me this time around, but you never know. I am new to this site and have enjoyed reading about all the new and old crafts. Thank you.

I’s always looking for crafty bargains and invention parts at yard sales when I ran across this strange old, wooden, pear-shaped, sliding gadget among the tools. All the old farmers at the sale around the table had no idea what it was. My verdict: For 50 cents, it’s MINE! I searched on the internet assuming I was going to find out it was some sort of cattle-tagging instrument. Lo and behold, it’s very similar to a Tru-Gyde needle! Funny because, I had recently become interested in rug hooking but have yet to come across good instructions and materials to start a project

I first saw a rug hooker in Laguna Beach, Calif. in the 60′s. I was intrigued and wanted so much too learn how. But, life, divorce and survival took precedence. Now, I have time, great enablers around me and am still interested. I would love it if you drew my name and helped me fulfill this long held desire to learn rug hooking. Thanks for the opportunity.

Penny rugs are a fabulous scrap craft. So easy for a beginner. Wool is lovely to work with and so forgiving. I research this craft where ever I can find information. I love to share what I find. I hope to one day happen upon a vintage or antique penny rug. The old ones don’t seem to exist in my neck of the woods. This looks like an interesting book to add to my collection. Rug hooking is my next must learn craft.

I am not a hooker, but my best friend is.
I had a very rough weekend (sinus problems,
too many hours at work, etc.) and she spent
her Sunday with me, helping on a project I
needed to complete. She dumped all her plans
because I needed her help. The fruit rug would
be gorgeous in her dining room.
