I found this very, very cool jungle bed today!
This page is part of a great site featuring murals, trompe l’oeil(French for fool the eye), and decorative wall finishes. They give a lot of step by step instruction for different kins of projects.
Enjoy!

Painting editor Rebecca Lopez writes…
Decorative painters are sometimes seen in other artists eyes as different .
On the positive side they are seen as artists who simply work on surfaces other than canvas.
On the negative side they are sometimes not seen as real artists, because the methods used as well as painting surface can be […]

Found at the Blick site. This gorgeous transparent banner project. They specify Blick student acrylics, but you can use any acrylics.( Oh…and this has also been done for loooooog time using oils on glass.) Just be sure to use the COLORS they mentioned, for the purpose of transparency.
This pic of […]

Celestial themes are always beautiful.
I guess we as humans have marveled at the heavenly bodies since the beginning of us as humans.
I found a sweet project for a painted jar featuring a star.

Then I decided to go with it and look for a sun design. This cute children’s t-shirt and […]

Painting editor Rebecca Lopez writes…

Yup…you can.
I happened to remember that Cary , who does my tattoo work, likes to paint toilet seats.
I asked him about it once, and he says he uses acrylic paints…in fact, I know he is a fan of Liquitex Basics.
Liquitex as also sells a number of different sealers and […]

Painted Animal Print.

Painting editor Rebecca Lopez writes…

I found a very clever technique for making an animal print with paint that I had to share.
The paint used is Krylon® Interior-Exterior Paint but this could easily be done with regular paint.
In the instructions you are to spray paint the background with a color and then spray it with […]

Painting editor Rebecca Lopez writes…

This is a gorgeous project.
The drawing is done for you. As with many decorative painting projects published a pattern is given, that basically is the line work of the image to be painted.
The instructions are not very involved because the range of colors is small.
This helps you focus on […]

The starving artist is romantisized.
Everyone knows that artists dont make money.
People just don’t feed their families by spending their days painting.
Only those of rare and exceptional talent “make it”
I hate to be contradictory but it isn’t so.
I mentioned in my craftgossip profile that I come from a family of artists.
That […]

We live in a world covered in fabric.
Textiles in all forms has always fascinated me…and led me to a life long love of knitting and fabric painting.
Not to mention embroidery, and my not so big love of sewing…but Lord knows I try anyway!
But here we are talking about applying decoration […]

Scripted and florishing, blocked…big and bold.
I love text in art, or even AS art.
I have an art peice painted directly on the wall, in my bedroom that incorporates text that says “The heart is eternal”
I plan on several”word walls” in my future home that will hopefully be built in […]

Here comes the sun.

Inspired by the desire to escape from all the snow we have had here in central Ohio, I went searching for some sunshine.
I found a couple of painting projects that involve actual sun motifs, as well as some other warm weather/sunny place themes.
My favorites were;
Tiki Time I think they used […]
